The item was well packed and arrived very soon after I ordered it, so bravo to the vendor.

I bought this unit after my Maxim hot plate gave out after several years. While I was eager to replace it with the same, none was available on Amazon at the time, and I needed something right away. As the name of the item implies, I use this on Shabbat to keep food warm on Friday night or to reheat solids for lunch on Saturday afternoon. I considered the Maxim hot plate reliable, and while this hot plate also works well, I find it reaches much higher temperatures. I worry it may dry the food. It's much larger than the Maxim, at about 16.5 by 21 inches, so it accommodates more items on the surface. At least I can compensate for the extra heat by placing saucepans or aluminum trays at the edge, since it seems to get hottest at the center. People who use traditional blecher may not be bothered by this; in any case, aside from these personal concerns, I've had very good results.
