I bought this rug as a room cover for my 2 year old daughter's bedroom because she suffered from eczema at our former residence. I suspected the old carpet was a tremendous culprit in her skin sensitivities, and boy was I right. She can now sit on this rug with no clothing and the rashes she would previously get even while clothed have disappeared completely.
My only issue was that the rug has an odd odor, one I originally thought was a mildew stain on the back, but realized was likely the cause of a mishandled packaging process. I had Amazon ship another duplicate rug, and we've found it to be better quality than the first one, though it's the exact same rug. Go figure? I think the independent shippers Amazon.com uses can be the reason for why our first purchase needed to be sent back. All in all a superior rug for folks with allergies and who don't want synthetics against their skin. It can only be vacuumed with an attachment hose, not a beater brush.
Definitely make sure you shake it out to "fluff it" up before laying on hard wood floors. Also, I think an all rubber grip pad is a better choice than the mega grip rug pad we got, because that, too, has a scent and it didn't dissipate and permeated the rug. We have two of this item now because we liked it so much.
