When the quilt, sham and valance arrived, I washed them. I should have tied the quilt every 4 inches or so, as the batting "bunched" on the first washing. I decided to do several length-wise rows of stitches to secure the batting. The fabric did not want to go through the machine, so the back side has very messy stitches. But my grandson does like the owls!
