Product Description

The 800 Thread Count Solid Sheet Set comes with 4-piece, the fitted sheet which fits up to an 23-inch mattress, a flat sheet which feature a 7-inch folded hem, and two standard pillow cases. The sheets are made form 100-Percent Egyptian cotton sateen. All sheets are cut and sewn from imported fabric in our Southern California facility.

These sheets initially seem like they'd be soft and smooth, however, after washing them it's as if the cotton gets roughed up and develops a very slight fuzziness on the surface. This completely does away with what I know to be the look and feel of a sateen weave.

I have other sheets that are billed as being the same thread count, etc. and those are smooth with a slight sheen, feel cool to the touch and have a nice drape. These Veratex sheets are thick, almost no sheen, and actually a little hot. I would liken them to a summer's version of flannel or a very thick oxford shirt. I have a Wmart pillow case (used for my cat's bed) which is softer than these sheets!

One thing I do like is the style/size of pillowcases. They are a bit roomier than most and even the fluffiest down pillows slide right in. My mattress is 15" and the fitted sheet covers it fine.

I also purchased the Veratex 500 TC and prefer those as they are a tad smoother and light enough for summer. Those do have a slight sheen and retain it after washing. They still aren't that soft/smooth though.

FYI - both sets are white, king-sized, and have been washed about 5 times. I was hoping to see improvement but they really haven't changed since the second wash. I want to love them but just can't quite get there.
