I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this artificial tree. The fold up mounting base turned out to be well designed and sturdy. The bottom half of the tree was likewise well made with the only problem being the green plastic sleeve that was on the end. I couldn't figure out if it was meant to be part of the assembled tree or part of the packaging that protected the box from the pointy end of the trunk. The instructions didn't address the issue so I ended up removing it. The branches on the top half of the tree are fixed into place and have to be bent down into position as opposed to the hinged ones on the bottom half which just fall into place. That means that a fair amount of time is needed to assemble the top half of the tree but given the size of the branches I'm not sure that it could be done differently. The lighting is a mixed bag. I was impressed that they did a good job of imitating the color of incandescent bulbs with LED technology. Absent was the harsh blue tinged white that I'm used to seeing whenever white LEDs are specified. One problem is that the lights were routed incorrectly in places which prevented proper positioning of the branches. I estimate that I spent an extra fifteen minutes removing and reinstalling sections of the lights until I got things sorted to my satisfaction. The other problem is that the lights flickered despite proclamations to the contrary all over the box and accompanying literature. When viewed directly there was actually a pleasing sort of twinkling effect. When viewed in passing there was a noticeable motion strobe effect. I suspect that this is to be expected from LEDs running off of AC mains power without the addition of an intricate and possibly expensive power supply. The overall tree once assembled was pleasant looking, with the right density of branches and lights. I used it as part of a table top Christmas display and was happy with the end result. When I took the tree down after the holiday season it actually folded back up and fit back in the original box without any problems.
