Stunning but overpriced.

The fruit bowl looks exactly like pictured on Amazon. It's polished steel so reflective that you can use it as a mirror (if you'd like). Amazon's described dimensions are accurate, which are 11.5" x 11.5" x 4.2". Bowl/basket feels sturdy and easily holds a dozen apples, yet lightweight.

After shopping for and using Alessi's products, I'm starting to see the shallowness of its products. They certainly have the looks but customers have to pay an arm and a leg for that. And there's no quality! How much weight can one put on quality when their products are utterly cleverly-cut piece of stainless steel? Even if there's quality, it is the quality of the metal, but seriously, in the consumer's perspective, how much more value he/she gets out of an Alessi steel basket comparing to a 20-dollar steel basket from a supermarket?

No where on the product, its box, or instruction leaflet indicate where it was made to supposedly justify its price.

As a company, Alessi knows that it has not been doing well for that very reason, especially in the U.S., and it has no intentions to care or see that as a problem because one of its business philosophies is setting the prices much higher than its products are economically worth will somehow translate to better branding. To that, I'd say good luck!

Don't waste your money on vanity companies like Alessi.
