Product Description

Mauviel, a French family business established in 1830 and located in the Normandy town of Villedieu-les-Poeles, is the foremost manufacturer of professional copper cookware in the world today. Highly regarded in the professional world, with over 170-year of experience, Mauviel offers several different lines of copper cookware to professional chefs and home cooks that appreciate the benefits of their high quality products. Professional cooks can attest that copper cookware is an essential part of every cookware collection as it is 2 by more conductive than aluminum and 10 by more conductive than stainless steel. This advantage makes copper the very best material for cooking, as it is unsurpassed in its ability to heat up evenly and rapidly and to cool down quickly, allowing for maximum control and great cooking results. M'Heritage combines two efficient materials that are perfect for cooking and table presentation a 1.2-2 mm exterior of copper and a very thin stainless interior. The copper exterior makes up 90-percent of the sandwiched material and provides for excellent conductivity. The stainless steel lining is easy to clean and very durable. M'Heritage has straight sides and stay cool stainless steel handles that are attached to the bodies with sturdy stainless steel rivets. M'Heritage is resistant to high temperatures and scouring pads on the interior and comes with a limited lifetime warranty. Made in France, for household use only.

Mauviel M'heritage 150b 6520.12 Sauce Pan with Bronze Handle, 0.09-Quart Review

This is a great little pot, and the price is great - as long as you know what you are getting, namely: a tiny little saucepan made of 1.5mm thick copper, stainless lining on the inside, a tiny bronze handle and no lid.

A few useful notes:

Size: This saucepan should be part of the Mauviel mini-collection, not just because of the 0.9 qt, but because the handle is shorter than those that come with the larger Mauviel saucepans. This is great for boiling 1, 2 or 3 eggs, but that's it. Because the handle is bronze, it will heat up, but face it, you're boiling an egg, how hot is it going to get? You're not searing steak.

Copper thickness: Mauviel has a few classes of copper in their M'heritage collection. The number refers to the thickness of the copper, the letter to the material of the handle:
- 250c (2.5 mm copper thickness with cast iron handles)
- 250s (2.5mm copper thickness with stainless handles)
- 150b - 250s (2.5mm copper thickness with bronze handles) - This is the class of this item.
- 150c (1.5 mm copper thickness with cast iron handles)
- 150s (2.5mm copper thickness with stainless handles)

This item is 1.5mm thickness. Normally, I'd recommend going with 2.5mm thickness, but it's just not worth it for this pot, since you're really just going to use it to boil an egg or warm some milk, or perhaps melt butter. In this case, 1.5mm is just fine, and will save you tons of cash. Also, if you're worried that your pans won't match because all your other ones are 2.5mm, don't worry, no one will notice, I promise (except you, and you'll know you saved over $100 and you'll feel very smug about it).

Bronze handle:
Also, this model has a bronze handle. Who doesn't love a bronze handle?

No lid:
Part of the reason this saucepan is a bargain is that it doesn't come with a lid. For me, that's fine, again, I'm never going to use a lid with this one, so why pay extra for something I'll never use.

One good looking little pot:
I do hang this baby up on the wall, because it looks great next to my other copper windsor pan. And really, if you're going to splurge on copper, paint your wall sage green, and show it off! It looks lovely.
