I wanted a solid, roomy, low sitting, pretty chair for my bedroom and thought this looked perfect.

First the good things about this chair:

It came today and is exactly as pictured, except the color is a little more to the purple side than the photo would imply. I would have liked it to be more red, but the difference isn't significant and the color still goes well in my room It is sturdy and low - with a LOT of sitting room so it is good for reading and lounging. The cushion is firm and it is not a soft chair, but it is quite comfortable.

This chair is inexpensive and the construction shows that some corners have been cut for the sake of price. Hopefully it will hold up for years since it is not in a heavily trafficked area of my house and only I will be sitting in it. For the price I paid, I think it is a very good chair.

Now for the bad:

ASSEMBLY NIGHTMARE ALERT! This chair is literally impossible to assemble as per the instructions. It comes with several little red bags of screws, washers, bolts, and other items. This is WAY TOO COMPLICATED AND IF YOU TRY TO USE ALL THESE LITTLE PIECES AS INSTRUCTED, YOU WILL GO MAD! The reason is that it is difficult to attach the back to the seat without all the pieces falling out before you can get them screwed in. Hard to explain, but when you get yours, you will see why. Even with two of us trying to hold everything together, we kept running into the Catch-22 of part A must be screwed in before part B, but part B cannot be screwed in after part A without all the little pieces of hardware falling out and rolling EVERYWHERE! The person who created this assembly puzzle must have a sick sense of humor - I can just see him laughing at all us dunces trying to get this to work!

I finally gave up on all the little pieces. NOW HEAR THIS: WHEN YOU ASSEMBLE THIS CHAIR, ALL YOU NEED IS THE 8 LARGE ATTACHMENT SCREWS AND THE ALLEN WRENCH THAT IS INCLUDED. It is still difficult to make it work, but at least you don't have little bits of metal falling out and rolling around on the floor. I wish I had just thrown away all the other bits and pieces from the start and simply screwed the legs and backs onto the base. This is a simple chair and there is no need to complicate assembly with unnecessary parts. It is every bit as sturdy without the extra pieces, and I feel sane and happy knowing that I won't go to jail if I compromise a little when putting it together.

Bottom line:

This is a low priced, beautiful chair that makes my room look glamorous. It is comfy to sit in, nice to look at and in all gives me a whole lot of form and function for the $173.19 I paid. It probably won't be an heirloom piece and I wouldn't place it in an area where it will get a lot of wear and tear, however it is a perfect little chair for my private use.
