Dimplex CS4416 Compact Electric Stove Review

I use two oil-filled heaters to heat my living room, dinning room and kitchen, which is an open area without walls with an area of about 600 sq ft. There were a few problems with this method. Oil-filled heaters take a long time to heat a large area and all the heat goes straight up. The Dimplex heater solved these problems.

In the morning it would take two or three hours to raise the temperature by 3 or 4 degrees. I replaced one of the oil-filled heaters with the Dimplex. Now, it takes half the time to get the house warm. Another advantage of the Dimplex is that it has a quite fan that gently blows the heat from the bottom onto the floor. Before it was very warm in the house, but the floor was like ice. Now, the heat is more evenly distributed and the floor is much warmer. I can feel the heat on the floor from over ten feet away.

The thermostat, which is just a round knob without any markings, does a good job at regulating the heat. You turn the knob up on high then when it gets warm enough you turn the knob down until you hear a click. To make it easier you could put marks on the knob so that you can better tell where to set the knob. You can also turn off the heat and just watch the flames on the logs. It has a remote that plugs into the wall outlet and you plug the heater into the remote.

At first glance, the flaming logs look very realistic. When you turn the unit completely off it still looks like there are embers burning. I assume it is because there are a few very small places on the logs that appear to have reflective colored mirrors. It is a very nice feature and makes the stove look even more realistic. I built a 2-inch high 2x2 foot freestanding hearth out of ceramic tile on a plywood base and placed it on my carpet with the heater on top. This adds to the illusion of realism and protects the carpet. Since the heater does not get hot on the top, I placed an ivy plant on it just for a little decoration. I love the whole look that it creates.

The Dimplex stove solved my heating problems. It is small enough to fit anywhere. It is portable so that I can either move it to any location or store it in the summer and it looks great. I highly recommend this heater.

Dimplex DFP15-1132NG Fireplace Compact 28 " x 29-3/4 "x 9 " Review

I love this little electric fireplace heater. The fan makes it even better than the oil filled radiator type in many cases because the heat gets distributed so much better. Looks great. The only negative is the bulb for the 'fire' seemed way too hot so I took it out and replaced it with a smaller wattage (maybe 7 watts) so the back wouldn't get so hot. You can't even tell and my 'flames' flicker very nicely still.
I highly recommend this little unit for smaller areas. You'll love it!

Dragons Thorne Twin Sentinal Dragons Mirror [Kitchen] Review

Any guest new to my house are always drawn to this mirror. Well, I have it by the door, so it can't be missed anyway. -_~

It is a great looking mirror. The resin frame is quite thick and makes the whole thing quite hefty (12 lbs). The dragon figurines are solid too. It doesn't look likely that their wings or horns would suffer any damage from casual abuse.

The only con I have is that the styrofoam mold my mirror was packed in wasn't a dense styrofoam. The shipping box looked like it had a rough time. The styrofoam was starting to flake into its component bits. Fortunately, my mirror was ok.

Easy Track RV1472-T Hanging Tower Closet, Truffle, 72-Inch Review

Saw this system via a Google search and used the manufacturer's online tool to design my closet. Then I printed the provided list of items required to build that closet and went to Amazon in search of everything. They saved me about $800 off what the manufacturer's website estimated so I was pleased.

HOWEVER...while Amazon took care to place items in secondary shipping boxes to ensure they arrived in good condition, another vendor, Tool King, where about two thirds of the items I needed came from, did not and about half of those items arrived damaged in some way. I could live with a lot of it (drawer assemblies not entirely intact(but you glue them anyway), nicks and scratches under shelves or in the back, corners of shelves crushed on a back corner) but there was one tower set that arrived totally broken in half. The boxes were pretty much in shambles when the items from that vendor arrived.

As for the system itself, it is simple to assemble. We are novices at DIY and had a few hiccups but now that it's in, it looks great and seems sturdy.

A few tips:

1) Become familiar with the modules and the individual pieces prior to ordering. We were short three 24 inch shelves until we realized that they calculated that length as being leftover from some 35 inch shelves we cut to customize part of the space. Would have worked out except none of the pieces left over made a single 24 inch shelf.
2) Use real items to determine how far apart things like shoe shelves should be. My hubby spaced his too far apart and so they came up too high and things on the hanging bar above hid the shoes. He fixed it but it was against a wall and he couldn't get to the screws without taking the whole thing apart again. A total hassle.
3) Lay out all your items when you get them and organize them by section of closet. It will just help you keep track of where everything needs to go and help you see if you are missing anything or if anything looks funny beforehand. That way you aren't mid-project before you realize you are short something or that something won't work like you thought it would.
4) Hang shoe shelves and drawer sections first. Cut the hanging sections to fit. We had planned for so many inches of hanging space but ended up having to cut it back just a little once everything was in. This is easy to do with the hanging sections and impossible with everything else.

Overall a good system although it seems easy to ding and scratch during shipping. We got the Truffle finish stuff and it looks nice. I am going to further customize by getting drawer pulls that match our bathroom cabinetry. We have a smaller closet at this house than our last one but with this system, I don't notice the difference.

Works good. Although I find the rod for the pedal little short, so the peddle sits a bit to high for comfort.
I tried lengthening it by loosening the bolt some what but there seems to be thread damage at the end so it won't lossen any further.
Other wise the sealer it self works great.

Echelon Home 800 Egyptian Sateen Cal King Sheet Set, White Review

I have been shopping for a summer sheet set for my queen size bed for a few weeks now. I've read many, many reviews of various ones here on Amazon as well as at other stores. I've had my wonderful Pinzon 190-Gram Velvet Flannel sheets on the bed during the colder months but, since it's nearly June, am (grudgingly) ready to switch to a lighter summer set. I just received these today and they seem great, a nice weight and soft and smooth to the touch. I checked them over first to make certain there were no flaws and put them in the washer as directed. After drying, they did not disappoint. They came out with very few wrinkles (just the hem on the pillowcases, really) and seem as nice as before. I have not slept on them yet but will update after I do. Since there were no reviews yet, I thought I'd share my first impression. I'm expecting these sheets to wear well and be quite comfortable for many years.

They do have nice deep pockets, measuring a 14 inch seam in the corners and elastic all around.

After sleeping on these for a few weeks, I'm even more pleased. I'm actually considering them for a king bed in another bedroom, as it can be frustrating to try to determine how well sheets will fit, feel, and wear through the online reviews. Everyone seems to have different tastes and expectations, myself included. Of these sheets, I especially like the substantial weight and crisp, smooth feel, (not to imply that they are uncomfortably so). They are just made well of a quality fabric. I've not seen any pilling so far. From my experience up to now, I highly recommend these.

4-6-2012- I just noticed that another reviewer mentioned a problem with pilling. I have not seen any in either of my 2 sheet sets and we've used them quite consistently in the past year. I purchased the Ivory in both King and Queen sizes, in case that makes a difference. I wash them in warm or cold water and dry on a normal setting. They are washing and wearing well for me. I love them!
